57617 BC was the last time Mars was as close to the Earth as it is now, and it
can be seen clearly with the naked eye in the night sky. It is already starting
to move away form the Earth at a rate of 6 miles per minute and this rate of

10ticks help and functionality
If your child is working at level 5 and 6, the helps on the website are almost
complete! This means they can get help on any worksheet they are using. Then
your child can test themself on the topic. If logged in when attempting the
questions, scores are recorded in the user area. When a few have been attempted
a profile is built up of your childs ability. Looking at these scores will help
you identify strong topics and weak topics. Concentrate on weaker topics to
improve!
In the user area you can see all highscores of games played on the website when
logged in. You can even put in your friends e-mail addresses and birthdays and
we send them a E-birthday card on the day from you!!
15% is a pass at maths GCSE
Examiners at the Oxford and Cambridge and RSA (OCR) board had to lower the pass
mark for Grade C as pupils found this years examination too difficult. It has
emerged that candidates were able to achieve a Grade C after scoring only 15%
in the examination. As usual it is blamed on the teachers, candidates were
expected to have done more algebra than in previous years. One examiner said
the problem was that students hadn't been well prepared for the changes.
One student who was well prepared was Arran Fernandez from Surrey. At 8 years
old he became the youngest person to receive an A* at GCSE. He took the papers
when he was 7 years and 11 months even surpassing Ruth Lawrence who achieved a
Grade A at O level when she was 8 years and 10 months. He has now narrowed his
career options down to mathematician, lorry driver or space explorer!
